Martial Arts Shoes?

I have flat feet and ankle pronation problems that tend to cause problems with my knees. To prevent another knee injury, my teacher suggested I get a martial arts shoe and put an arch support in it. Has anyone used either the Century shoe or new Adidas shoe? Would they work well with arch supports? I do Tae Kwon Do.

Martial Arts Shoes?
I have adidas karate shoes and bushido karate shoes. Both are really good, but I love the adidas ones. You can adjust the width on them because they are velcrow and have relativley good elasticity, which should work well with the arch supports that you need. I%26#039;m a black belt in karate, and I also took tae kwon do for 4 years. I highly reccomend the adidas karate shoes! Good luck!

Oh by the way... DO NOT GET VANS OR DC%26#039;s for the martial arts!!! Those will fly off your foot if you do any kind of snapping kick and they%26#039;re too big and bulky to get the right snap on your kicks. Plus if you kick someone and your wearing skater shoes you could really hurt them!
Reply:Otomix makes an awesome shoe with support. They are on the pricey side though. Great shoes....
Reply:really and seriously, go talk to a physical therapist or a sports therapist, they can examine you and tell you the best advice for your body.

i%26#039;m not sure how much support that shoes can provide you that ankle braces and knee braces can%26#039;t. but with my experience with martial arts and wrestling shoes, they%26#039;re all basically the same... it%26#039;s just about how much money you%26#039;re willing to put down on long lasting qualities and what fits best for you.

make sure any martial arts shoe you buy fits you perfectly, that%26#039;s a huge huge deal. a bad fitting shoe is actually worse than no shoe.
Reply:well i don%26#039;t know about century shoes or adidas for martial arts,BUT I do know that for kung fu{I do kung fu} a flat shoe is best any simple flat shoe will be good. beleive it or not a good shoe would be any skateboarding shoe because they are flat on the bottom.an example would be like %26quot;vans%26quot; or %26quot;dc%26quot; or %26quot;emerica%26quot;or something like that.As far as arch support I don%26#039;t think you can beat %26quot;new balance%26quot; also if ya are trying to strengthen your knees and or ankles I would suggest doing a kung fu leg strengthening exersize called %26quot;monkey walking%26quot;.My knees were destroyed from skateboarding and doing that exersize has substancualy helped my knees. I hope this helps.
